Spirulina Energy Bites

A simple, naturally sweet way to enjoy the benefits of spirulina.


These easy, no-bake bites are made with just three wholesome ingredients and are naturally sweetened with Medjool dates. They're fat-free, high in fibre, nutrient-dense, and perfect as a quick snack or a simple way to incorporate spirulina into your daily routine.


Why Spirulina?

Spirulina is a blue-green algae that's considered one of the world's most nutrient-dense superfoods. It's naturally rich in amino acids, iron, B vitamins, chlorophyll, and antioxidants. Spirulina helps support energy production, immune function, healthy antioxidant defences, detoxification and overall wellbeing.


Ingredients

- 1 cup soft Medjool dates, pitted

- 1–2 teaspoons spirulina powder

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon


Method

1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor.

2. Blend until the mixture forms a sticky dough.

3. If your dates are dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time until the mixture comes together. If you're using soft Medjool dates, you likely won't need to add any water.

4. If the mixture is too soft or sticky to roll, refrigerate it for 15–20 minutes to allow it to firm up.

5. Roll into small bite-sized balls and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

A Little Tip

If you're new to spirulina, I recommend starting with 1 teaspoon and gradually increasing the amount as your taste buds adjust to its unique earthy flavour. Everyone's palate is different, so feel free to tailor the recipe to suit your preference while still enjoying the nutritional benefits of this remarkable superfood.
