5 Simple Diet ‘Secrets’ to Supercharging your Health

Updated: Mar 9

1. Focus on whole plant-based foods, and minimise process foods

Dehydrating, concentrating and refined foods, like added sugars, refined oils, white floors are empty calories invariably provide less nutritional value, dehydrate the body and create toxicity, affecting virtually every function in the body. Conversely, a whole plant-based diet rich in fruits and vegetables neutralise toxins and is well associated with a lower risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and death from any cause.

2. Limit or avoid animal products.

Science has shown us over and over again that the more meat we eat, the higher our risk of diabetes, heart disease, and strokes. High-quality research shows that red meats (like beef, lamb, pork) and processed meats (like bacon, sausage, deli meats) as well as eggs and dairy products are metabolised to toxins that cause damage to our blood vessels and other organs. This toxic process together with the high fat content has been linked to heart disease, diabetes as well as cancer.

3. Make fruits and vegetables the manjority of your calories with whole-food fats eaten sparingly (fresh nuts, seeds, avocados, or young coconut flesh).

These foods are complete nutritional packages and provide the very best quality water, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients enzymes, coenzymes, fiber, protein, carbohydrates and fat, they also contain them in the percentages, ratios, and forms that are optimum for human health.

4. Limit or avoid salt and vinegar

Salt or sodium chloride, in any form is an irritant and is toxic to the body. It deadens the taste buds’ ability to sense sweet, sour, or bitter, which is why salt users often say that food has no taste without sat. Salt retards digestion and excretion, and upsets our critical natural water balance. Our cells rely on a delicately regulated ratio of sodium and potassium, with sodium residing outside the cells and potassium inside. if the potassium/sodium ratio is at all out of balance, cellular dehydration or super saturation results. Either of these conditions compromises cellular function. The best way to obtain the natural sodium and other mineral salts vitally important nutrients needed by every cell of our body is by eating a variety of vegetables, especially celery and tomatoes.

Vinegar, including apple cider vinegar and balsamic, are also highly toxic to the human body. Vinegar is made by diluting one part acetic acid (a common poison) with 19 parts water. Repetitive use of vinegar damages our liver the same way alcohol does. The body pulls phosphorous from the adrenals to negate the effects of acetic acid in the system. Depleted phosphorus results in impaired function of the adrenals and thus, the entire endocrine system. In addition acetic acid depletes the body of the trace mineral calcium, which is used in the body to neutralise acidity. When someone is putting more acid into their body, the more calcium the body needs to neutralise these acids, and the more calcium is taken from bones and teeth. Instead of using vinegar for your food, you can squeeze lemon juice.

5. Pay special attention to food quality

Whenever possible chose locally sourced, seasonal, organic foods. Organically grown, seasonal produce generally contains more vitamins and minerals than conventional produce and generally contain little or no pesticides residue in comparison with conventional produce.

There is no doubt that a proper, healthful, plant-based diet will result in improved health. However, I must emphasise that the body, not food, create health. A proper diet is but one component of healthful living. To be able to improve our immunity, being able to fight disease and remain healthy, boost our energy, mood, and activity levels, it also requires adequate rest and sleep, plenty of fresh air, sunlight, regular, vigorous physical activity, a positive outlook on life, and many other factors are also essential to creating good health.
